The title “Black Mamba” comes from the highly venomous snakes on the African savannah, which symbolizes Kobe’s deadly attack power on the basketball court. This indomitable spirit is revered by the world as the “Mamba Mentality”. In 2013, the Year of the Snake, Kobe’s series of shoes launched three snake-themed shoes, including Kobe8 and two pairs of Kobe8 EXT. Now, after a cycle of the zodiac, we usher in the Year of the Snake in 2025, the Lunar Calendar. The Kobe series will also launch a limited edition Kobe 5 “Year Of The Mamba” during the Spring Festival to pay tribute to Kobe’s nickname.
This “Year of the Mamba” series includes two color schemes, purple and red. Following the debut of the purple version, the red version was officially unveiled. The shoe body is dominated by bright red, which perfectly fits the festive atmosphere of the New Year. The Swoosh logo on the side is embellished with black and accompanied by a golden snake pattern, creating a sense of luxury.
The most eye-catching design of Kobe 5 Protro Year Of The Mamba is the golden snake pattern on the outside of the shoe body, which is made of golden leather with a scale effect and has a full three-dimensional sense. Overall, although this “Red Snake” did not bring much innovation to the theme of the Spring Festival and still maintained the traditional bright red tone, its detail processing is indeed commendable.
